Environmental Sustainability
In our industry, environmental sustainability refers to the practice of minimizing negative environmental impact wherever and whenever possible — while still remaining profitable.
TGI leads our industry in promoting sustainability and has done so for 30 years. Sustainability has long been a hallmark of Lanier and Toshiba product design, manufacturing practices and management systems.
From our customer’s perspective, sustainability is one of the most important priorities in today’s corporate culture. Environmental responsibility affects a wide range of business decisions. Manufacturing practices, energy consumption, legislative compliance, recycling — all of these factors come into play as organizations strive to find environmentally conscious solution providers.
In other words, many customers and prospects share TGI’s belief in sustainability, as the Value Proposition Strategy research confirmed. This is why our manufacturing partners offer the Total Green Office Solution, a comprehensive approach to environmental responsibility that encompasses every stage of a product’s life cycle. It is also why environmental sustainability is one of the pillars of the Value Proposition Strategy. Today, value proposition for environmental sustainability states:
“For more than three decades, our manufacturing partners have led the office automation industry in creating innovative products and environmental management processes that promote sustainable business practices. Through the Total Green Office Solution, they deliver cradle-to-cradle products that minimize collective environmental impact.”
Making responsible environmental choices is critical for any organization’s image. This is true for global accounts as well as SMBs. In fact, according to a recent survey conducted by IBM, 58% of SMBs around the world express concern about the environment and 44% already have environmental policies in place. A separate survey of SMBs identified energy as the biggest cost increase of the past two years, surpassing healthcare, payroll, rent and equipment.
Solutions in the TGI portfolio support environmental sustainability three ways:
1. Save energy. TGI hardware, software and services can help customers use less energy in a wide range of document-related activities.
Black and white hardware MFPs feature Quick Start up Technology
Print Director rules-based software supports directing multiple page printing to more energy efficient MFPs
DocumentMall service promotes collaboration of electronic documents to eliminate energy expended from printing.
2. Reduce resource consumption. TGI hardware, software and services help customers use less paper and toner. Lanier also uses recycling programs that minimize waste.
3. Comply with relevant standards. Most hardware meets 2007 Energy Star qualifications for maximum energy efficiency. Our partner’s compliance teams ensure all current and pending domestic and international environmental regulations are met. Management systems are in place that help us comply with EPA and other regulatory standards.
